Historique :	Ce tableau appartenait à la famille Fanton d'Andon qui en fit don à l'église de Biot en 1960. L'origine de cette toile est inconnue. Les Fanton d'Andon, propriétaires du château de Thorenc, étaient apparentés aux Théas, seigneurs de Thorenc et propriétaires à Biot dès le 17e siècle. Notre hypothèse est que le Comte de Théas, seigneur de Thorenc, fit exécuter un très grand nombre de tableaux par les artistes les plus célèbres de la 2ème moitié du 18e siècle, alors qu'il se trouvait en garnison à Francfort et logeait dans la maison du père de Goethe. Goethe lui-même en parle longuement dans ses Mémoires et cite le nom de plusieurs de ces artistes. Ce tableau, donné à l'église de Biot, provient peut-être de ce fonds.
