Historique :	Tableau exécuté de 1601 à 1602 par P. P. Rubens à la demande de l'archiduc Albert d'Autriche pour la chapelle Sainte-Hélène dans l'église Sainte-Croix de Jérusalem, à Rome. En 1811, il fut transporté en Angleterre. Vendu publiquement en 1812 par M. Squibl, il fut acheté à Londres par M. Perrolle, de Grasse, qui, par disposition testamentaire du 14 avril 1827 le donna à la chapelle de l'hôpital de cette ville.
